Launching a Global Yoga Revolution

Stories

Integral Yoga Media just released a new documentary, “The Launching of a Global Yoga Revolution,” in honor of “Integral Yoga Day” 2020 and the 50th Anniversaries of the Integral Yoga Institute of New York (on 13th Street) and San Francisco (on Dolores Street). In 1966, Swami Satchidananda arrived in New York City as a guest of artist Peter Max (after being invited to Europe by filmmaker Conrad Rooks). In October 1970, the Integral Yoga Institute (IYI) moved into its expanded home at 227 W. 13th Street, where it remains. The IYI gave birth to over 30 centers globally and over 20,000 Yoga teachers who share the Integral Yoga teachings and practices throughout the world. This short documentary was produced as a tribute to New York City and the Integral Yoga Institute, as the birthplace of Integral Yoga in America—and a birthplace that launched a global Yoga revolution that continues today.
