Dedicated to all current and future seniors, the Integral Yoga Institute of New York will celebrate World Senior Citizen’s Day with a special program:
Eastern Spiritual Teachings to Support the Aging Process:
Saturday, August 21 • 1:30–2:45 p.m. Senior Integral Yoga teacher Robert Padman Bernstein will lead a discussion around the benefits and drawbacks of the one thing no one can avoid—getting older.
Viewed through the teachings expressed in yogic psychology he will bring center stage something we all know: We live in a youth-oriented culture, a culture where it’s not favorable to look older. As a result we may alter our appearance and behavior attempting the psychologically damaging and impossible: to stop the clock. For whose approval, for whose love, for whose “I’m OK” do we hunger? The program will discuss thoughts from the Yoga Sutras, A Course In Miracles, Eckhart Tolle, and luminaries such as Swami Satchidananda, Elizabeth Kubler Ross, the Dalai Lama, Carl Jung, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
There will be a guided meditation to practice “disengaging from anti-aging.” We will learn the purpose of all Yoga practices, to remember we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Register
