Sacred Mantra for Inner Peace: Om Shanti
Santih (Shanti) is the sanskrit word for peace. We all seek peace and joy. We have that peace within us, yet we always seem to be searching for it outside ourselves. Repetition of this mantra, Om Shanti, truly brings an experience of inner peace. You will feel peaceful and blissful because you will also be able to send out powerful peace vibrations that will travel all over the globe.
Many mantras include OM. In the beginning, God, or the Cosmic Consciousness, expressed as the Word or as vibration. That vibration produced a hum which gave rise to the syllable OM, also known as prananva (that which hums). All the sounds that you hear and you don’t hear in the cosmos derive from the pranava. By concentrating on this inner vibration, you tune into the cosmic sound.
Sri Swami Satchidananda, one of the first Yoga masters to bring the classical Yoga tradition to the west, is well-known for his combination of practical wisdom and spiritual insight. He dedicated his life to the service of humanity, demonstrating by his own example the means of finding abiding peace.
