Good news for plant-based eaters: McDonald’s Canada has announced the national rollout of the McVeggie™ sandwich, beginning September 16, 2025 at participating locations across the country. After a successful test run in British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick, this new menu item is being added as part of McDonald’s effort to offer more inclusive and flexible dining options.
The McVeggie features a breaded patty made from a hearty blend of vegetables—carrots, green beans, zucchini, peas, soybeans, broccoli, and corn—seasoned and served with lettuce and a creamy mayo-style sauce on a sesame bun. For those who enjoy a little heat, a Spicy Habanero McVeggie is also available.
While we can’t yet vouch for how healthy this choice will be, it’s encouraging to see a mainstream chain like McDonald’s expanding its menu to meet the needs of vegetarians, flexitarians, and those exploring plant-based options. Alongside recent additions like oat beverages at McCafé and more meat-free Happy Meal® choices, the McVeggie is a sign that plant-based living is moving further into the mainstream.
For anyone looking for a quick, widely available veggie option on the go, this could be a welcome addition—one that makes it just a little easier to stay aligned with your lifestyle while dining out.
